Charles Makgala
Executive Partner
With over 13 years’ experience in coal mining, Charles has extensive experience including the role of Mine Manager at three Mpumalanga collieries. With a BSc Engineering (Mining) from the University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Mining Engineering and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Wits Business School, he is a member of the South African Colliery Managers’ Association (SACMA) and the South African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (SAIMM).
Thabile Makgala
Executive Partner
Thabile Makgala is the Executive: Mining at Implats and has dedicated close on two decades of service to the Mining Industry. Prior to joining Implats she held various senior positions at Gold Fields, AngloGold Ashanti and AngloAmerican.Thabile is the current chairperson of Women in Mining South Africa (WiMSA), and in 2018, was selected as one of the “Top 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining”, by Women in Mining UK. Thabile has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Stellenbosch Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering (Cum laude), from the University of the Witwatersrand. Thabile is a member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and Institute of Directors in Southern Africa.
Allan Widlake
Executive Partner
With over 40 years of experience in the mining sector, Allan has worked in senior management positions in mining houses, on mines and in the mining service industry. He has been Director: Business Development at Murray & Roberts Cementation since 2005, bringing experience from the gold, copper and platinum sectors. His qualifications are in both electrical and mechanical engineering and include management programmes at Wits Business School. He also participates in setting international shaft sinking standards and is affiliated with South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM).
Otto Fourie
Executive Partner
Otto has been in mining for more than three decades, including work in the coal and gold segments. With a Mine Managers Certificate of Competency, he has held senior management posts in mining operations. A mining graduate from the University of Pretoria, he also studied management at Wits University. He has also worked on a number of Mpumalanga coal operations.
